Student Expectations:

  • Dancers are expected to maintain good attendance in their chosen classes in order to get the most out of their practice, contribute to the well being of the progressive course, and maintain a strong body that can cope with the course as it progresses.

  • Please be on time for class. You want to be settled and ready for your class. If your class starts at 6pm, you should be at the studio by 5:50. Classes are back-to-back and the shift between classes is quick. If you happen to be late, wait until there is a natural break to quietly slide into your class.

  • Dancers are expected to wear appropriate dance clothing and not wear jeans, excessive jewelry, street shoes or other pedestrian clothing.

  • Teachers reserve the right to refuse entry to the class after the first 15 minutes of class. Dancers who are consistently late will be asked to withdraw.

  • Phones off, please, unless you have an urgent circumstance that day.

  • No eating in class. Water bottles only, please.

  • Try not to come and go during class or leave early. Your class is a bubble that we hold during our time together. Coming and going is disruptive, and you will miss something great if you step out. If you need a break, stand to the side and take a minute for yourself. If you are opting out of jumping at the end, for example, stay on the side, stretch, and cheer on your fellow dancers. There is still lots to learn by watching.

  • Participate in a reverence in ballet, applaud for yourself, each other and your teacher at the end of each class. It’s a lovely and professional way to show your appreciation for the sharing of that work and time together.

  • Dancers and Faculty will adhere to a conduct of mutual respect. Should a concern arise, please speak to your teacher privately. Any conflict that is not resolved should be brought to the attention of the director to assist in resolution.

  • No street shoes on the Marley floor.

Performers Policy:

  • Performance is a wonderful and inherent part of the dance experience. Dancers in performance classes will need to commit to the year end performance by January 15, 2026. Dancers choosing not to perform may participate fully in class and choreography building throughout the course.

  • Dancers choosing not to perform are welcome to transfer into another class at or before Spring Break or continue participating in the performance class with the understanding that an increasing amount of class will be dedicated to rehearsal as we get closer to the show.

  • The 2026 Year End Show is scheduled for Friday, June 19th & Sunday June 21st. Extra Rehearsals including the Tech and Dress Rehearsals will be scheduled on Saturday, June 13th and after 5pm during the week of June 15-18th.

  • For Non-performers: June Class Cancellations due to the above show week schedules will be credited to your Flex Pass by April 1st. Please see calendar for more details.

  • While some absences are unavoidable, we ask performers to keep these to a minimum in the months of April, May and June.

  • Dancers are responsible for costume costs for any piece they participate in and will adhere to deadlines in regards to sourcing costuming or paying for costume fees. A non-refundable performance fee will be charged January 15th which includes $20 for performance video and a $50 costume deposit per performing class. Once final costume costs are confirmed, students will either be invoiced the remaining balance or refunded any overpayment. Dancers are offered additional performance opportunities throughout the year. If a dancer chooses to participate in additional Choreographic Projects, they will be required to commit to a Performers Contract. Cancelation from the project, or removal by the director/choreographer of the project will result in no refund.

  • All extra bookings at Seda Dance will be charged at $100/hr. The costs will be divided between the number of dancers participating in the piece. Ex: If a class of 10 dancers is needing an extra rehearsal with their teacher, each dancer in the piece will be charged $10 for the extra hour of instruction and studio time. (Studio rehearsals such as the full day of Show run through, Tech rehearsals, Dress rehearsal will not be charged to the dancer)
