Senior Contemporary Class

Saol means life!

Dance is ageless, and everyone who dances in their hearts can dance with their bodies. Our Saol program is meant for the 55+ dancer or dancers with physical limitations.We hold dear to our hearts the love of movement and how it can feed our souls.

All Classes Drop-In friendly until spring break, after spring break a portion of performance classes will be dedicated to rehearsal, drop-ins accepted as long as practical.

Saol Contemporary 55+

Contemporary class for the Senior dancer. Gently wake up your body's pathways, awareness of core strength and balance. Dance with your own expression as you follow structured guidance in contemporary dance choreography. Class starts on the floor with a short and soft release section and progresses to standing movement and some pathway dance across the floor. A short choreographic section to finish — with room for your own interpretation. No jumping in this class.

Saol 1: Beginner Contemporary 55+

Mondays 11:00-12:15pm with Stacey Horton

& Thursdays 3:30-4:45pm with Kathy Lang

No experience required. Dancers should be able to sit on floor and navigate standing and soft across-floor work.

This class will be offered as a sessional or by full year registration and is a progressive class from September to June. As this class is non-performance, it will remain Drop-in Friendly all year long.

SESSIONALS - price is for 1 class weekly, Monday OR Thursday

FALL: Sep 14 - Dec 17 (14 weeks) - $315 +GST

  • Also available for 4 monthly payments of $78.75+GST

WINTER: Jan 4 - Mar 18 (11 weeks) - $247.50 +GST

  • Also available for 3 monthly payments of $82.50+GST

SPRING: Apr 1 - Jun 14 (11 weeks) - $247.50 +GST

  • Also available for 3 monthly payments of $82.50+GST

SAOL 2: INTERMEDIATE Non Performance

Mondays 3:15-4:30pm with Kathy Lang ft. Stacey Horton

Minimum 3 years dance experience. Dancers should be able to sit on floor and navigate standing and soft across-floor work. This class is for movers who have some dance vocabulary and are able to execute some patterning. No jumping or complex floor work.

This class will be offered by full year registration and is a progressive class from September to June. As this class is non-performance, it will remain Drop-in Friendly all year long.

SAOL 2: INTERMEDIATE performance

Fridays 9:30-10:45am with Kathy Lang

Minimum 3 years dance experience. Dancers should be able to sit on floor and navigate standing and soft across-floor work. This class is for movers who have some dance vocabulary and are able to execute some patterning. No jumping or complex floor work.

This is a progressive class from September to June ending with a performance and is offered by full year registration only, registered dancers are expected to Perform and must give notice by January 10th if planning to opt out. Drop-in friendly til Spring Break, after spring break a portion of class will be dedicated to Rehearsal, drop-ins accepted as long as practical.

SAOL 3: ADVANCED performance

Wednesdays 3:30-4:45pm with Kathy Lang

Minimum 5 years dance experience. Dancers should be able to sit on floor and navigate standing and soft across-floor work.

This class is for experienced movers who have a stronger base of dance vocabulary, are able to execute more complex patterning and concepts. Consideration for the older dancers is still the base of the course structure while allowing deeper challenge for the more experienced dancer. Please email the studio if you have concerns and wonder if Saol 3 or Saol 2 may be right for you.
